I really like Stellaris. I enjoy the game as a story telling device where my turtle people can fight bird people over spirituality and a really big planet. Currently the game is split into two branches, the 4.2 main game update and the 4.3 Cetus open beta. This creates the horrible situation of where the current game isn’t worth playing and the future game just kinda sucks. In my most recent game I unlocked the Eternal Vigilance perk, that in 4.2 created defense platforms for free every six months. In the 4.3 open beta this is no longer the case.
I am sad and don’t want to really play Stellaris.
Now, I understand that some people want to find the bugs and fix them and suggest different levels of balance. For me, as a Stellaris player that likes jellyfish people on ocean worlds, I don’t. I’m a bit tired of being a beta tester for a 10 year old game. For your consideration, Stellaris has had three Anno games (2205, 1800, and 117) to compete with and none of them has required a complete rework of the game like Stellaris.
What is really nice about not relying on Stellaris as source of anything other than entertainment is that I don’t need to do anything but wait. I don’t create Stellaris analysis, talk about news, or even provide guides on Stellaris. I get to just complain and ignore the game.
